Compliance Statement
Achucarro Basque Center for Neuroscience Fundazioa (ACHUCARRO) work proactively to develop and organization and culture of integrity and legal compliance. This commitment was implemented on the establishment with the adoption of international standards to create a management model to support these principles and strategies. The operations and management of ACHUCARRO is committed to lead and perform management based on our core values, code of conduct, international standards of corporate governance, ethics and win-win relations with all stakeholders.
The Spanish Organic Law 5/2010 of June 22 amending the previous Organic Law 10/1995 of November 23 about the Penal Code (“LO 5/2010”), introduces for the first time in the Penal Code an express regulation of the criminal liability of legal persons for crimes committed in their name by representatives, de facto or de jure administrators, workers and/or employees. One of the changes included in that Reform was the existence of various extenuating and mitigating circumstances for the legal person, where so-called crime prevention models or programmes play a key role in exemption of criminal liability.
Following the prescriptions of the Laws, the Board of Trustees of ACHUCARRO (the top management body) approved the Organization and Management Model defined by the Directorate of the centre which includes the appropriate supervision and control measures to prevent or significantly reduce the risk of crimes being committed within the organization, including approval of this Criminal Risk Prevention Manual on the date shown on the cover.
The spirit of our organizational culture is to go beyond the sole commitment of the legal framework, therefore, ACHUCARRO has developed strategies and policies to acknowledge and implement international standards like:
