Our group studies how emotional value is assigned to experiences. We particularly focus on understanding the brain circuits that define aversive value and how this process defines pathological conditions such as phobias, anxiety, and depression. Our approach involves behavioral studies and the functional interrogation of brain circuits through electrophysiology, calcium imaging, and opto- and chemogenetics.
