hiPSC-based models to decipher the contribution of human astrocytes to Alzheimer’s disease and potential therapeutics
27Mar2023
Dr Amaia Arranz at ACHUCARRO and Dr Julia TCW at Boston University have leaded a perspective article about the use of human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC) models to determine the contribution of human astrocytes to AD.
In this perspective piece, Arranz and TCW provide evidence supporting that:
astrocyte biology is an important contributor early in AD;
human iPSCs are an important tool for studying these astrocytes, and
new therapies targeting astrocyte pathways may be efficacious in AD.
This perspective has recently been published at Molecular Neurodegeneration.
