Women in Science 2025: small actions, big changes
Thirty-five Basque entities are jointly organising a broad programme of over 60 activities at the 9th edition of Emakumeak Zientzian. The main aim of this edition is to highlight the concept of "Hazia erein / Sow the seed", highlighting how every small action can make a difference on the path towards equality in science.
Emakumeak Zientzian is a project that, after being conceived for the first time in 2017, has been growing and strengthening year after year and, in addition to fulfilling the main objectives of the initiative, makes a deep reflection to advance in a necessary change of scenario of the scientific-technological panorama.
Thus, this year “We want to highlight the concept of “Hazia erein” (Sow the seed), highlighting how each small action can make a difference on the path towards equality in science”. “We firmly believe that each talk, workshop or shared story has the power to inspire new generations and sow a change that transcends beyond a single week a year”, they added.
All of this will be captured in several audiovisual pieces that seek to bring the public closer to the real voices of those who work for change, highlighting gender equality and the role of female role models. “The videos include testimonies from people – researchers, teachers, students, equality officers at research centres and representatives of public entities – who have experienced first-hand the importance of these small seeds of transformation, inviting us to reflect on the power of everyday actions to build a more equitable future”, commented the representatives of Emakumeak Zientzian.
ACHUCARRO is one of the coordinating organisations of the edition, thus maintaining the long-standing commitment to initiatives to make women visible in our sector.
